About YMUN Australia

Set in the lively city of Sydney, YMUN Australia is an international Model United Nations conference for high school students. Across three days of debate and diplomacy, delegates will come together to resolve some of our globe’s most complex socioeconomic, geopolitical, and historical challenges. Channeling the perspectives of United Nations Member States, international institutions, historical figures, and policymakers, delegates will analyze the intricacies of global decision-making while crafting nuanced resolutions to multifaceted policy issues. Our team is committed to fostering an academically enriching and collaborative environment that truly empowers delegates to translate their ideas into meaningful action – both within and beyond the conference.

At the core of YMUN Australia is our vision of Innovation and Progress. We believe that the modern challenges facing our world demand a generation of future leaders who are unafraid to think boldly and creatively, challenge status quo approaches, and envision new possibilities and avenues for change. As such, our committees are designed to encourage innovative problem-solving and thought-provoking debate while championing the fundamentals of diplomacy and collaboration. Delegates will leave YMUN Australia with the critical thinking and communication skills necessary to tackle global challenges with passion and purpose.

What Makes YMUN Australia Unique:

Our Committees

Yale MUN Australia offers a diverse selection of committees led by a world-class staff of Yale students. Spanning both contemporary and historical international affairs, our topics strive to highlight not only worldwide challenges, but also the unique history of Oceania and its communities. Each committee offers an unparalleled opportunity for delegates to engage in intellectually-stimulating debate, voice unique perspectives, and build critical leadership and teamwork skills.

Our in-depth topic guides, pre- and in-conference delegate trainings, and extensive delegate resources ensure that all students are prepared to engage productively and successfully in committee. We are steadfast in our commitment to building an inclusive, welcoming environment where delegates of all backgrounds and levels of MUN experience can thrive.

Our Staff

Our team of 12 driven, passionate Yale students is by far our conference’s greatest strength.

Each member of our team is trained extensively on the ins and outs of Model UN and brings a rich knowledge of international affairs to the committee room. Our secretariat’s diversity of lived experiences and global perspectives, alongside their unequivocal dedication to student mentorship, makes for an incredibly enriching and engaging experience for all delegates.

Exceptional Programming

YMUN Australia is committed to expanding the delegate experience beyond formal debate. We are passionate about offering unique opportunities for delegates to engage further in the realm of international affairs and build long-lasting relationships with a vibrant community of delegates from across the world. Whether it’s keynote speeches from influential global leaders and pioneers in the field, college admissions and professional panels with Yale students, Director-led workshops, or hallmark social events designed to encourage community-building – YMUN Australia believes the delegate experience is the heart of our work. We ultimately hope to create a conference experience that is not only academically impactful, but also fun and memorable!
